Greetings!
Since it has been a while since I posted an update and I figured that I should be posting in the Promo category anyways, here is an update to my progress. (original thread here)
The original design was to have Delzimmer be the starting city and go from there. As I was building that out, it became clear to me that I would not be able to create Delzimmer the way I wanted to and have it be the starting city. It is more suited to be a destination and regional hub, so I changed direction. This allowed me to create a new city, one that is fictional to the Forgotten Realms. Central to the region are the ruins of the old city of Ammathtar. They are near the intersection of the roads leading to Dambrath, Lurien, and Delzimmer/Great Rift. At this intersection I created the city of New Ammathtar and this will be the new starting city and the major hub for the server.
With pretty much all of the systems completed and mostly tested, content has been added and I have the server live and open for play. So far there are 7 quests and about 15 ‘adventuring areas’ plus the necessary shops, tavern, and city areas. Detailing still needs to be done on much of the areas, but I am focusing on getting more ‘adventuring areas’ built and playable with spawns and quests. Currently there are 345 spawn points in the database for the current areas.
I got a few of the logistics taken care of too. Got the domain name shiningsouth.com It’s the same one I had 20+ years ago, there are even a few captures on wayback machine of the old site. The server is hosted at OVHcloud and I have an (almost) replica of it on my local computer as a VM, which allows me to fully test the server, NWNX, and the database.
