Back from the Far Realms

Not sure how long I’ve been gone, but I’ve dusted off the Toolset and decided to play around with NWN again.

Seems that Beamdog Enhanced edition is totally borked for me. All it does is crash crASH CRASH!! Never seen anything like it. Thus, I’ll be sticking with my original 1.69 Gold Edition - which also works with the versions my kids and brother have.

I’ve pretty much got all my old CC tools back up and running, but I’m not sure how much time I’ll have for making new things as I’m relegating NWN to my rainy day activity and one day per week - finishing my BA (last semester) and all that.

So, whose still around that I might “know?”

No, I’m not here to do ANYTHING with PROJECT Q.

Welcome back. Which version of EE are you on? Beamdog client, Steam or GOG?

If it’s the toolset that crashes and you have an nVidia card, check out the threads on the Beamdog or Steam forums about that.

As @Proleric says if you have an nvidia graphics card and the crashes are of the toolset there is a fix that works (quoting myself)-

Open the nvidia control panel.
Select Manage 3D settings
In the Manage 3D settings panel select the Program Settings tab
Under “Select a program to customize” there is a drop-down box. Open it
Scroll Down/Up until you see Neverwinter Nights (nwtoolset.exe). Select that.
Turn Threaded Optimization to off.
Close the nvidia control panel. And thats it.

I’ve tried only Beamdog - Retail and Development. The Toolset is what crashes, and the game as well. Yes, I do have an nvidia card. I’ll give that control panel tweak a try.

Welcome back!

I love Project Q! Use it as a Patch Hak to get graphical updates while playing modules. Great work!

Thanks, Tarot. Tweaking that setting fixed the crashing.

Welcome back! “NWN never forgets!”

Why not Project Q update or merging with CEP?

There will be an update - see this post:

No, I’ll not be merging Q with CEP. This has already been kicked back an forth 100s of times since 2008, and I won’t be kicking it about any further. TAD has already taken the content he desires and placed it into CEP. There are also a few folks out there who already merged them both for their PWs.

Welcome back sir! Good news for Project Q indeed…

Hey Paul, great to see you’re back.

Only saw this topic now, but that explains the Q 3.0 beta link over on the Q download page. Awesome to hear you’re working a bit more on Q after all.
