I just installed NWN2 again today for the first time since Win10, I have it installed on a secondary SSD from the OS, I have removed read only from the entire install directory and yet despite having no mods or modules installed the game persistently crashes after clicking new campaign and loading the files to bring up the campaign selection menu, instead of the menu the entire game just shuts down. what if anything can I do, I loved this game and would like to play it again with Vordan’s Hero Creator Module and the Necrlord Nude Mods again.
You’ve probably tried this but; Right click on the installation application, select properties, select the compatibility tab, at the bottom select change settings for all users, at the bottom put a check (
) in the box for “Run this Program as an administrator”. At the top of this tab, select “Run this program in compatibility mode for”, and select Windows XP SP2.
After installation go to the installation folder and repeat for every single execution (.exe) file in there!!

Not really a fix, but the GOG version works without problems. Although many of us had the original CDs, we went ahead and bought the game from GOG again to avoid such issues. You can grab the complete version for 15€ or so. This included base game and 3 expansions.
