This thread is here to try to lift the mood (if possible) during the global health emergency. Therefore if you are going to post doom and gloom please do it in the Pandemic Times thread.
So what am I posting in here? Well here’s Neil Diamond with a covid-19 update to his old hit “Sweet Caroline” -
Not as uplifting as Neil Diamond, but when I stopped at the grocery store this morning after picking my son up from college a customer overheard me sigh about the lack of toilet paper. She then, without a word, dropped two rolls in my cart, smiled, and walked off.
Just in case anyone finds this next YouTube video racist or offensive towards them good ol’ boys (and gals) of the southern USA, I wash my hands of it (But it is funny) -
The comments on the YouTube page are funny too… (click the YouTube button)
Who could know better than an astronaut about isolation ? Think about it: living in an aluminiun can, placed in a void filled with dangerous radiation, where you drink your own recycled piss, is not really a piece of (space) cake.
Well, Chris Hadfied knows about one or two things that can help us, here on earth.
Thing is I haven’t come across any recent mood lifters. Oh sure there are funny things out there but not recent things on the front page of YouTube. So in order to keep things light here is the pilot for a show (don’t know if it’s meant to attract TV producers or what) that I think I’d definitely like to see on TV (hint either watch it on YouTube or go full screen) -
Well I find this funny even if they are obviously miming. There’s even a bit of an Easter egg during the closing credits that you may not recognise until the chorus (facepalm time baby)
I have something to look forward to: BBC America is airing “Monty Python’s Life of Brian” and “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” on Wednesday night!
I haven’t seen those movies in years. Time to get the old popcorn machine out of the attic. Old classics like those deserve classic-prepared popcorn, not that microwave shit they try to pass off as popcorn. If I’m lucky, that hooch I made last Spring will be ready too.
You kids these days! Popcorn machine, indeed! Classic popcorn is made in a kettle with oil, on the stovetop. Then you dump it in a paper sack with butter and salt.
My “machine” is a deep cast iron skillet with a cast iron skillet that you place over the top Very old school and usable on the stove-top or over a campfire or BBQ.
