Custom Content Challenge - August 2021: Arthurian Legend

The theme for this month’s challenge: “Arthurian Legend”:

Content inspired by King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.
This theme was suggested by @Pstemarie.

Guidelines:

  • It must be fully working in game.
  • Use of vanilla NWN or publicly available texture is fine. Just remember that NWN textures must have dimensions in powers of 2 (2, 4, 8, 16, 32, etc.).
  • Teamwork is welcome.
  • Beginners most welcome. Don’t be afraid, just try, you’ll be surprised!
  • “Custom Content” includes many sorts of things: models, scripts, prefabs (areas, items, creatures, conversations, quests, etc.), sounds, portraits, or anything else new for the game.
  • All submissions must be finished, working, and emailed to nwvaultccchallenge@gmail.com (or a non-Vault link provided) by September 1st, 2021. Sooner than that is perfectly fine too.

Some things you could include in the download/email that would make packaging everything up easier and faster:

  • 2da lines needed.
  • Screenshot from in game for use on the Vault page. Formats: .bmp, .jpg, .png, or .tga
  • Portraits (if needed) of your new goodie. Placeables and monsters should include a portrait.
  • Inventory icons (if needed) of your new goodie.
  • Any credits you would like listed.
  • If this is your first entry, please tell me what name you would like your work listed under and provide a link to your other NWN content if you want that displayed as well (the link bit is totally optional).
  • Remember, the Challenge is all about fun, sharing, creativity, and surprise!

This thread is for all sorts of discussion about this month’s theme: ideas for things to make, questions/concerns, announcement of what you intend to make, screenshots of work in progress and/or finished projects.

If you want to discuss the Monthly Custom Content Challenge idea as a whole or wish to submit ideas/themes for future monthly Challenges, please post in its thread here -Custom Content Challenge - Theme Suggestions .

When submitting a new theme, please provide a title and short summary of the theme.

If you have a technical question about some custom content creation, please create a separate thread so that the answers can be found later by anyone, not just people interested in this Challenge.

We’ll try to help!

Have no fear and join the fun!

So, now we’re in for a slew of round tables, fancy swords, grails and questing beasts! Have fun everybody.

I could clean up my Round Table from Enigma Island.

The image is taken from the fake made for Edward III of England, now on display at Winchester.

It needs some work to be usable - right now it only works as a static placeable.

Does it come with the chairs and are they sittable? Just curious.

Here’s a thought. In Saint Georges Chapel in Windsor Castle grounds, there are displayed the banners of the Knights of the Garter -

Anyone fancy making such banners for this challenge and possibly making it possible for others to do the same? Somewhat like Lisa’s Standards (or Army Flags).

The chairs are standard placeables, but I could include a prefab.

Some large shields based on the heraldic of some knights of the round table…

I’ve only recently gotten into creating custom content. I’m experimenting with making more high res versions and historically accurate armor, and updating the pre EE armor, so I’d like to give this challenge a try. I’m an irredeemable history nerd so I want to try a historical reimagining of King Arthur, situating him in late antiquity/ the early dark ages.

First of all. Yay! @Shemsu-Heru is back in the CCC.

I’ll keep an eye on what everyone else is doing so there will be no overcrowding.
Plenty on the Military aspect it seems.

I’ll probably focus on the more magical aspect of Arthurian legend.
Nymphs and such. Im taking suggestions.

It’s all very well focusing on the macho side of things but what about the ladies? I think there is a distinct lack of ladies wear for medieval noble ladies. Where’s the pointy “princess” hats (amongst other odd headgear)?

There’s also the matching attire too. So how about something for the ladies too? What’s the legend of king Arthur without his Guinevere?

I submitted the finished table, with the following improvements:

  • Walkmesh changed from square to round
  • Legs moved outwards to improve the appearance of stability
  • Corrected texture mapping on 16 tiny edge faces
  • Use nodes now accessible
  • Demo module generates ring of chairs, with comments on how to script sitting

The axe of the green knight. I haven’t planned to do it but i wasn’t happy with th e NWN models.

The green knight is a “guy” who one day irrup in Arthur’s court, and challenged any one who dare to cut his head with his own axe. But with the condition to be allowed to return the strike after. This story is related in the poem “Sir Gawain and the green knight”…

The green knight premade creature is include as Bonus.

I sincerely hope you haven’t submitted it because I definitely haven’t received anything from you since you sent the Colonial Paintings in.

TR

Did you receive my Excalibur?

It was sent to NWNCCCMakers@gmail.com just before I posted yesterday. The attachment is less than 0.5 Mb. It hasn’t bounced, but I will resend.

I would love to see a Mordred and Morgana offering and interpretation. Perhaps a little Merlin’s beard as well.

NWNCCCMakers@gmail.com is the old address from before the revival of the ccc. The current email address is -

nwvaultccchallenge@gmail.com

If you check in the staff threads for the “NWN CC Challenge Email Account Info” thread you’ll see that it is what @Pstemarie set up for the ccc following on from @TheAmethystDragon’s departure from NwN.

You have used the new email when you sent those pictures in a couple of ccc ago.
