Custom Content Challenge - December 2022 : Common Stuff and Salvage

The theme for this month’s challenge: “Common Stuff and Salvage”

Things like cups, wagons, lanterns and such. Also it could contain pitchfork and some farming tools as weapons. Also improvised items or common items with unusual use (bashing cups, door or table shield, sword made from plough or guillotine axe. Placeables like table camp-fire door from shield or table, table from door or shield with axes, junk huts. At last junk armours, who wanna to wear door armour or put helmet? We also have a shields on straps. Oh and I forgot about some scavengers and junk creations.)

This theme was suggested by Shadowing2029.

Guidelines:

  • It must be fully working in game.
  • Use of vanilla NWN or publicly available texture is fine. Just remember that NWN textures must have dimensions in powers of 2 (2, 4, 8, 16, 32, etc.).
  • Teamwork is welcome.
  • Beginners most welcome. Don’t be afraid, just try, you’ll be surprised!
  • “Custom Content” includes many sorts of things: models, scripts, prefabs (areas, items, creatures, conversations, quests, etc.), sounds, portraits, or anything else new for the game.
  • All submissions must be finished, working, and emailed to nwvaultccchallenge@gmail.com (or a non-Vault link provided) by July 1st, 2022. Sooner than that is perfectly fine too.

Some things you could include in the download/email that would make packaging everything up easier and faster:

  • Any 2da lines needed.
  • Screenshot from in game for use on the Vault page. Formats: .bmp, .jpg, .png, or .tga
  • Portraits (if needed) of your new goody. Placeables and monsters should include a portrait.
  • Inventory icons (if needed) of your new goody.
  • Any credits you would like listed.
  • If this is your first entry, please tell me what name you would like your work listed under and provide a link to your other NWN content if you want that displayed as well (the link bit is totally optional).
  • Remember, the Challenge is all about fun, sharing, creativity, and surprise!

This thread is for all sorts of discussion about this month’s theme: ideas for things to make, questions/concerns, announcement of what you intend to make, screen-shots of work in progress and/or finished projects.

If you want to discuss the Monthly Custom Content Challenge idea as a whole or wish to submit ideas/themes for future monthly Challenges, please post in its thread here -

Custom Content Challenge - Theme Suggestions.

When submitting a new theme, please provide a title and short summary of the theme.

If you have a technical question about some custom content creation, please create a separate thread so that the answers can be found later by anyone, not just people interested in this Challenge.

We’ll try to help!

Have no fear and join the fun!

Half way through the month. Anybody doing anything for this?

TR

2/3 of the way through the month and so far nothing. Not even any terracotta plant pots!

TR

Only a few days to go and still nobody is apparently making anything for this challenge.

TR

Yes, sad, but I didn’t manage to find enough air for this right now.
But still: Thanks for your time to keep an eye on it and for sending out reminders! :+1:

This will remain semi-active in case someone does contribute to it.

Blender can be infuriating when you don’t really know what you are doing. Still I do get some sort of result occasionally. After much banging my head against the wall and heavy usage of of Edit/Undo I finally got something that the tyros would have accomplished in the blink of an eye. 9 different pieces of (very simple) lumber. Surely something that is an everyday object.

How simple? Each of these consist of just one cylinder and two planes. In fact these are so simple that I recommend that they are placed towards the back of an area. There are 2 versions of each - 1.69 and EE. The EE versions are all PBR mapped. The main texture is from

Large Public Domain Fancy Mapped Texture Pack

While the tree-ringed ends are free from Vecteezy. The actual texture is

Anatomy of tree trunk Free Vector Which I have shrunk, added alpha to and created PBR maps for.

I’ll upload these in a day or 2.

Really nice work. I hope you release it to the vault one day

Updated to V1.1. Found an additional 4 bark textures so made an additional 4 pieces of Lumber -

Available as both a patch/addendum for the initial upload and as a full V1.1 release. Note you only need 1 of these, not both.
