The theme for this month’s challenge: “Planar invasion”
What if fiends decided to invade en masse? Or angels got sick of mortal sins? Earth elementals carved new resources? Fire elementals slaves? Or just some interplanar empire found “backwater” world? Conjunction threw some world together?
This theme was suggested by Sunssarathi2029.
Guidelines:
It must be fully working in game.
Use of vanilla NWN or publicly available texture is fine. Just remember that NWN textures must have dimensions in powers of 2 (2, 4, 8, 16, 32, etc.).
Teamwork is welcome.
Beginners most welcome. Don’t be afraid, just try, you’ll be surprised!
“Custom Content” includes many sorts of things: models, scripts, prefabs (areas, items, creatures, conversations, quests, etc.), sounds, portraits, or anything else new for the game.
All submissions must be finished, working, and emailed to nwvaultccchallenge@gmail.com (or a non-Vault link provided) by March 1st, 2022. Sooner than that is perfectly fine too.
Some things you could include in the download/email that would make packaging everything up easier and faster:
Any 2da lines needed.
Screenshot from in game for use on the Vault page. Formats: .bmp, .jpg, .png, or .tga
Portraits (if needed) of your new goody. Placeables and monsters should include a portrait.
Inventory icons (if needed) of your new goody.
Any credits you would like listed.
If this is your first entry, please tell me what name you would like your work listed under and provide a link to your other NWN content if you want that displayed as well (the link bit is totally optional).
Remember, the Challenge is all about fun, sharing, creativity, and surprise!
This thread is for all sorts of discussion about this month’s theme: ideas for things to make, questions/concerns, announcement of what you intend to make, screen-shots of work in progress and/or finished projects.
If you want to discuss the Monthly Custom Content Challenge idea as a whole or wish to submit ideas/themes for future monthly Challenges, please post in its thread here - Custom Content Challenge - Theme Suggestions.
When submitting a new theme, please provide a title and short summary of the theme.
If you have a technical question about some custom content creation, please create a separate thread so that the answers can be found later by anyone, not just people interested in this Challenge.
Not only do I have the standard idea of ‘hey what if elementals’, a certain… Other video game has bitten me bad. Modded Terraria.
So I may have a really dumb idea. A really hilariously dumb one. better get ready to deal with the aftermath of the Lunar Cultist level dumb idea, because the Celestial Pillars sure are a planer invasion, at least until you stop it
Mind I am a melee main in Terraria so the sun crew tend to be my main ones to go after
The Githyanki, creatures imported from NWN2 and adapted to NWN. working and tested. If you say an evil extraplanar empire they are the first thing that come to my mind.
A small contingent of red dragons served high-ranking githyanki as mounts and companions, following a treaty established with Tiamat early on in their history.
Okay…
My entries are not as cool as Giths on dragons and such…
But meh!
I link the expanded hak! It contains a portrait 2da now and the new creatures in the appearance 2da are separated by an “empty” line from the previous entries… https://www.mediafire.com/file/35r3br008x1mfw6/my_ccc_works.hak/file
Some pictures:
A “magma seeker” some Fire-plane stuff (fictional, not canon (A)D&D content anyhow)…
Kelp daemon inspired by the second book of Liriel Baenre’s story trilogy…
A nether spirit based on the one Gromph summoned to assassinate his sister Quenthel in the book…
So my attempt to get some Terraria critters went pretty piss poorly. Thankfully though, I had a backup of my old classic:
Obscure D&D Creatures, and what’s more obscure than The Horde, a creature you can barely google because its about as bad as a name to search as my other random beloved obscurity, the Facet?
So as desrcribed, the Horde are just, weird looking bugs. I’ve chosen to interpret them in… Another way. Because, well, they’re earth elemental insects, right? So I may as well make them look the part rather than ‘oh its a mantis but gold’ or ‘oh its a black beetle with red antena’
So, beetles made out of earth with crystal spikes. Unfortunately the basic beetle model doesn’t take well to the process, so I’m slightly back on the drawing board (IE: searching my resources for more beetles) on how to fix him. But, the Topaz one ended up looking dang nice so far
Aside from a few more Horde critters, I may take a stab at Classic Weird D&D Creature the Hydrax, everyone’s favourite* ice elemental crabs who build cities out of ice
Now a little gift for the spelljammer lovers. Long ago after the civil war that split the people of Gith into githyanki and githzerai; There was a third group which didn’t believe the history of the death of Gith and refuse to submit to Vlaakith. They fled (Depending of the edition, to the arcane space, the void or whereever spelljamming takes place. In the current edition, 5th, it takes place in the astral plane) And become in the pirates of Gith.
A new githzerai female. She have been made with a head from: CCC 2011 Aug: Planescape, made by Estelindis. And the robe is from master Atris in the game KOTOR II. after all as the yootuber " AJ Pickett" said in one of his videos - Githyanki and githzerai are basically as jedi and sith. So i basically have made my githzerai Atris.
