Use of vanilla NWN or publicly available texture is fine. Just remember that NWN textures must have dimensions in powers of 2 (2, 4, 8, 16, 32, etc.).
Teamwork is welcome.
Beginners most welcome. Donât be afraid, just try, youâll be surprised!
âCustom Contentâ includes many sorts of things: models, scripts, prefabs (areas, items, creatures, conversations, quests, etc.), sounds, portraits, or anything else new for the game.
All submissions must be finished, working, and emailed to nwvaultccchallenge@gmail.com (or a non-Vault link provided) by the first of the following month. Sooner than that is perfectly fine too.
Some things you could include in the download/email that would make packaging everything up easier and faster:
Any 2da lines needed.
Screenshot from in game for use on the Vault page. Formats: .bmp, .jpg, .png, or .tga
Portraits (if needed) of your new goody. Placeables and monsters should include a portrait.
Inventory icons (if needed) of your new goody.
Any credits you would like listed.
If this is your first entry, please tell me what name you would like your work listed under and provide a link to your other NWN content if you want that displayed as well (the link bit is totally optional).
Remember, the Challenge is all about fun, sharing, creativity, and surprise!
This thread is for all sorts of discussion about this monthâs theme: ideas for things to make, questions/concerns, announcement of what you intend to make, screen-shots of work in progress and/or finished projects.
If you want to discuss the Monthly Custom Content Challenge idea as a whole or wish to submit ideas/themes for future monthly Challenges, please post in its thread here - Custom Content Challenge - Theme Suggestions.
When submitting a new theme, please provide a title and short summary of the theme.
If you have a technical question about some custom content creation, please create a separate thread so that the answers can be found later by anyone, not just people interested in this Challenge.
I might have an idea to drag out some wolf model and make a Skoll and Hati. I say wolf model, I mean âThe Project Q Dire Woflâ. Completely unrelated but I also may make my own Fenrir to go with it. Nothing wrong with PHODâs one, just I want an incredibly dumb joke about one of the longest named Lego sets, VIKING WARRIOR CHALLENGES THE FENRIS WOLF. Yâknow. As you do. Though it is unlikely Iâd go that far for âextended lego jokeâ
if anyone has any plans for a Nidhogg or a Jormungar, Iâd be interested, or any trolls
One thing to remember is that some Norse creatures are just too humongous for NwN. Jörmungandr and Yggdrasill come to mind here. Mind you there is scope for tilesets for Norse mythological places such as Hel (correct spelling) and Valhalla.
Iâm thinking about making 3 Viking weapons for this: Gungnir âSpear Of Odinâ, Mjolnir âThorâs Hammerâ, and Gram âSword Of Sigurdâ. But I have no modeling skills so can only use vanilla models and change their looks, properties, and descriptions will that be ok?
Awesome I will try to get them done this coming weekend. May make 2 or 3 versions of each weapon: minor, greater and epic. Will make a small 1 area mod and put the weapons in it and maybe a monster or 2 to fight.
Looking around the net, I came across what could be a great placeable. Itâs released on cc attribution. It was way too big to start with so I shrank it down to 1% of the original size. It was also in a strange format, so I resaved it in the more common FBX. In Blender it looks like -
So whatâs wrong with it? Way too many polys. For EE that shouldnât be a problem. All thatâs needed is to generate normals from the original model and then use decimate on the model. Trouble is thatâs way above my current pay grade. Anyone want to take it on? PM me.
Due to the poor response I have quickly created 6 new loadscreens using images for desktop wallpapers. Here are the small images (big images available in the ccc).
What are you using as model editor, Tarot? I used to play with Autodesk 3DS 2010 but Iâm not sure it will work with Windows 10. Would the NWN scripts work on the newest versions?
Latest version of Blender (3.6.1) with NeverBlender which, in spite of the warnings on the project page, does work for the very simple stuff I can manage.
If you are talking actual NWScript, yes they still work.
BTW, have you tried 3DS in compatibility mode for Win 7?
Also, probably best to either move this to pm or make a new thread.
