Custom Content Challenge - March 2023 : Corrupting Evil

The theme for this month’s challenge: “Corrupting Evil”

“Land itself looked like its master, cruel and insane.”, “Oh god, I am sorry. She… She ate them… How does the human meat tastes like?”, “You have lied to me! The ghost was protecting us from that thing inside your child! Now die! Die for your treachery. And rest of you shall die too, to quench mine rage.”, “Betrayed! Shunned! Now prepare you fools for evil never rests!”, “Hey its just a book it cant hurt me. Can it?”, “Paladins? Blah! those fools cant do what’s is necessary.”, “I need it! I don’t care who give it to me! Gods, devils of demons! Somebody give me power to ordinate the justice!”, “I too used be like you, but this place is no place for good folk, but they also needs an saviour.” - This one is theme of corruption, when heroes are wrapped by the evil of their enemies to become like them like Nietzsche said “He who fights with monsters should be careful lest he thereby become a monster. If you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.” This is the game of corruption where experienced heroes cant be distinguished from lesser villains. Where paladins sell their souls to demons to destroy others like the blackguards. Where heroes valiantly fights the ghosts to save the town only to find it reanimating dead for army.

This theme was suggested by Shadowing2029.

  • It must be fully working in game.
  • Use of vanilla NWN or publicly available texture is fine. Just remember that NWN textures must have dimensions in powers of 2 (2, 4, 8, 16, 32, etc.).
  • Teamwork is welcome.
  • Beginners most welcome. Don’t be afraid, just try, you’ll be surprised!
  • “Custom Content” includes many sorts of things: models, scripts, prefabs (areas, items, creatures, conversations, quests, etc.), sounds, portraits, or anything else new for the game.
  • All submissions must be finished, working, and emailed to (or a non-Vault link provided) by the first of the following month. Sooner than that is perfectly fine too.

Some things you could include in the download/email that would make packaging everything up easier and faster:

  • Any 2da lines needed.
  • Screenshot from in game for use on the Vault page. Formats: .bmp, .jpg, .png, or .tga
  • Portraits (if needed) of your new goody. Placeables and monsters should include a portrait.
  • Inventory icons (if needed) of your new goody.
  • Any credits you would like listed.
  • If this is your first entry, please tell me what name you would like your work listed under and provide a link to your other NWN content if you want that displayed as well (the link bit is totally optional).
  • Remember, the Challenge is all about fun, sharing, creativity, and surprise!

This thread is for all sorts of discussion about this month’s theme: ideas for things to make, questions/concerns, announcement of what you intend to make, screen-shots of work in progress and/or finished projects.

If you want to discuss the Monthly Custom Content Challenge idea as a whole or wish to submit ideas/themes for future monthly Challenges, please post in its thread here - Custom Content Challenge - Theme Suggestions.

When submitting a new theme, please provide a title and short summary of the theme.

If you have a technical question about some custom content creation, please create a separate thread so that the answers can be found later by anyone, not just people interested in this Challenge.

We’ll try to help!

Have no fear and join the fun!

One week gone. Anyone?

I have no idea.

me too.

Ive always wanted a nalfeshnee : D

Well that’s evil. But corrupting???

Maybe I should create a sword which assigns one point of evil on kill …

I have a sword of kas that i ported a few weeks back, but its a bit unclear whether this has to work with NWN1 1.69 or if EE is good enough.

Confusing evil would be something I could relate to.

As a user of CCC goodies with a mixed EE / 1.69 portfolio, I’d assume that anything is permissible unless the rules say otherwise, and welcome all contributions.

There are precedents for EE-only entries. Sometimes the authors tell us, sometimes we find out when 1.69 falls over, no big deal. Stuff that only works in EE is still useful to many of us.

Yochlol demon, aka the handmaidens of Lolth. Despite the fact that they are considered a Tanar’ri, they care not for the bloodwar or the business of other demons. Their only concern is to serve Lolth.

It have been made with a weird mixture of beholder animations, with Aboleth (by Lathspell) tentacles and gelatinous cube parts. You can check the result in this video:

The main body have ben made from a PNP pice for a 3D printer:
Guess they don’t thought someone would be crazy enough to animate it…

That’s evil, and a very good animation.

I think, of a corruption which comes from a special scripting … a really powerful weapon which has a nasty side effect …

Revived my contribution from Aug. 2021 for that.

Well I’m afraid that in not good with scripts.
Do that means that Yochlol is not a proper content for this challenge?

A Gulthias Tree can be considered corrupting evil right?

Crenshinibon too?

Princess of the Shadow Glass also has “whispered” false promises to members of an adventuring party for her own means.

Unfortunately, I have yet to add model-creation to my skillset so I only have ideas to share at the moment.

No I think it fits PERFECTLY into the challenge, because it’s an unusual creature (directly spawn from the 9 hells?? ) and nobody could say what will happen if one risks a battle with it. You may leave the corrupting aspect to other builders, the model alone is an inspiration. By now I’m thinking on some simple scripting on a creature weapon which causes some corruption on hit (alignmentshifts mainly), but maybe eventually there are better ideas

Of course, it needs to be rooted out asap  . It springs in my mind that this could be done with prefabs maybe. You need a forest with a sinister atmosphere, all types of typical enemies (nasty twigs, strangling vines etc.; the models are in CEP, I guess) and then exactly the same forest again with a peaceful atmosphere which will appear after the tree is chopped down. Maybe this can be done with the seasonal forests tileset and lighting/fog effects.

Model making is not a pre-requisite for entering the challenge. Anything (except a finished module) that a builder can use in a module is fair game.

Are Archdevils or demonlords suitable for the challenge?

I should think so, we gonna get zariel and a new asmodeus ?

Definitely - you just never know what’s looking back at you from the abyss…

In terms of corrupting sorts, immediate ones who come to mind are Pazuzu, Asmodeus and Graz’zt

Unfortunately I’m out this month as I gotta get some speedrun practice in
