Editing NPC/Companion appearance

I have Xaltar’s facelift pack installed and I’ve started up Dark Waters but the Xaltar head overriding Heather’s face is for an old woman when she’s supposed to be young, I’ve tried removing the overriding file but the default face looks off next to the other new ones. Don’t really know much about modding, how might I go about either editing Heather’s appearance to use a different face or editing the override files so a different Xaltar face is overriding the default that Heather uses?

I just checked in the toolset and in Dark Waters Heather’s face is P_HHF_Head01. If you find another head (easiest way is to check in the toolset which one you like) then you can maybe rename P_HHF_Head01 to P_HHF_Head01_original in the override folder, then use MDBCloner and open up let’s say P_HHF_Head02, and if you like that one you change the MDB Name of that to P_HHF_Head01 and save it as P_HHF_Head01 in the override folder.

Here are some pictures of what the heads in NWN2 Facelift packs look like with numbers and everything if you don’t want to open the toolset (hover the mouse over the pictures and you see what numbers they are):

Or you can use the heads in Character Facelift 2022:

That did it. Thanks so much that was really easy to follow.

Just one minor issue that’s not really a big deal. I cloned head P_HHF_Head04 into 01 and that worked but when I try to do the same thing to the now unused original head 01 to rename it to 04 so that it’s still in use it won’t display. It’s ignorable since I was more worried about the main characters more just curious.

That’s odd. It shouldn’t happen. You must have somehow done something wrong then. Be aware so you don’t have duplicates of the same head nr. Also, it’s important that the Main Mesh Textures are correct. Can you show me how it looks in MDB Cloner for both these heads perhaps?
Changing numbers in MDB Cloner works most of the time, but sometimes it can get finicky if you’re not careful. Depends on exactly how you did this, I think.
Sometimes you need to use MDB Config instead, but that’s a bit more involved, and in your case you shouldn’t have to use that.

Here’s the two files, renaming 04 to 01 worked but renaming 01 to P_HHF_Head04 isn’t.

Ok, let me try on my end.

Worked without issues for me. I took head01 into MDB Cloner. Renamed it to P_HHF_Head04, then in the toolset I chose one of the character blueprints for Heather (there are apparently 3 of them) and chose Head04 instead (Appearance (head)).

I’ve been doing the same thing in the toolset to check it, still not showing up. My override has a few things in it maybe something’s conflicting I’ll try emptying the folder and redownloading xaltar.
Thanks for your help

Still no luck, nothing else in the override but anything other than the first clone and the face goes invisible, weird, oh well it worked for the one I wanted at least, don’t want to do a fresh install at the moment. Thanks for everything

Alright, I wish I could help, but I don’t know what’s going on honestly.
