Elven Ship creature anomaly

Howdy all - NWN 1.69 user back again…

In the course of modding a placeable of an elven ship (elfshps01.mdl from the Hak elvenships.rar) into a creature, all went fine and dandy until I watched it moving about in-game.

With a PC looking at it from behind, it looks like this:

rear

However, when viewed from the front, it looks like this:

front

I’ve never come across anything like this before, so if anyone can suggest what’s up with the model, I would be very grateful indeed.

I should add that the placeable model also displays this behaviour too.

Many thanks,
PT

Could you apply the model file to the threat. Then I will have a look.

Thanks as always for your help, Mmat.

The ASCII file is way too long to be posted here, however. Is there another way I can get it to you?

If not, the placable versions can be found on the vault as elvenships.rar

Thanks again,
PT

No, that’s just easy. Put the mdl into a zip archive and drag’n drop the archive over a message. Well, if all fails I can have a look into the file in the vault, but then I want to know the filename at least.

Cheers, Mmat,
Here you go, and thanks for another lesson learned

elfshp.7z (21.2 KB)

It works for me, hopefully it works for you. But I think it’s fixed. The ship was originally designed to be admired from behind … Check it thouroughly

c_elfshpsfixed.7z (21.4 KB)

What I’ve done:
I duplicated the faces of the sail. Then I changed the stirring on the duplicates into the reverse direction (both, verts and tverts). At last I flattened the shading, 1 for the back and 2 for the front.

A thousand thanks, Mmat!! You did it again!!

Your fix works perfectly, especially with the proper sail texture instead of the one I used for testing!

Thank you SO much for taking the time to help with this - I could never have fixed it myself.

All the very best,
PT

You’re welcome. I need more practice and don’t have much use cases right now.
