Every time I logon to this site, I get an error (I typed it out below)
I just reclick the Login button and everything’s fine.
But what does it mean? I’ve always been curious.
I’m using Edge on Windows 11, but it did it on previous PC with Win 8.1 / Firefox.
Error:
Access Denied
Payload (the sso parameter in url query) is not set
Signature (the sig parameter in url query) is not set
You are not authorized to access this page.
Click “Login” again and at that point, I am logged into the forums.
I never reported this to anyone so my bad if I should have done so. Having worked in IT my whole life, if I’m not the one charged with fixing it and I find a work-around, I tend to just roll with it.
It always happened to me and I’m on Firefox with windows 7. My fix was to not log out on the forums but I still log out on the vault… When I remember !
Works, without error.
I go to main page, log in there, then back to forums.
Have to click the Login again at forums, but it just refreshes to show me actually logged.
Thank you
I figured it was something with my (ancient) Windows 8.1 and/or my old Firefox. Had many issues with sites and apps not running on 8.1 in its final days, so didn’t surprise me.
But now on brand new Windows 11 and Edge browser, and still happening, I figured I’d ask!
Since Discourse was adopted as the forum software, you need to login on the main site first. Then and only then can you login to the forums. That way automatically passes your login details to Discourse so you can login to the forums by pressing the login button.
That explains how I get away with it by staying logged in to the forums…
A pat on the back to all those responsible for the vault, you are the only website that I trust enough to do that with. I stay logged off the main page because it says who is logged on and if somebody had a question about one of my mods they might think I was a right miserable sod for not answering them very fast even though I was logged on… Well that’s my theory anyway
