Is it possible to make mirrors in NWN1 that are actually reflective, or is that beyond the capabilities of the engine?
You would need a shader for sure and someone with enough experience with them, like Merriksdad. Even then it might not be possible. Probably because when you look at the mirror the camera is behind your toon or maybe between the toon and the mirror. Faking the refelction of the room the mirror is in is probably possible. Just pretend everybody in the room is a vampire.
It’s kinda been one of those things about mirrors that bothers me. Even reflecting the surrounding room would be an improvement IMO.
Is there any engine anywhere, which can do this?

That sounds reasonable. You need a webcam on the mirror.

There are several window models which show the outside. The outside could be as well a reversed picture of the room. But this is a very static solution.
A ravenloft game where everyone is a vampire. I’m sure it’s happened.
Didn’t think of cubemaps, but that’s a possibility. If you leave them blurry, that probably gives enough impression of mirror-ness to suspend disbelief.
There have been a few attempts, like…
(hopefully the link works…)
Aluvian is a vampire!
a map came out for Doom a couple years ago, it has reflecting mirrors (player is a vampire though).
MyHouse.pk3
I think it runs on the GZDoom engine …
Duke Nukem 3D was doing this back in the 90s, too. In fact, it used to be a moderately common thing, but as graphics engines progressed, it got progressively more expensive (rendering wise) to do this, so it fell out of fashion.
Let’s stake her!
DirectX 12 demo from 5 years ago made by Futuremark -
I did mention this in the “Drool” thread some time ago but the link died. Pleased to find it on YouTube instead. So it is part of DX 12.
FWIW, don’t expect this anytime soon on NwN. Not until A.I. can rewrite the engine and toolset…
