New Patch for Development/Steam Equivalent

The toolset can now open unpacked modules: You need to have it unpacked in a directory the same name as the .mod file (without the .mod extension).

I’ve been doing this when we were still 1.69. How is this a new feature?

I see the setting is mode = “windowed”. Is “fullscreen” or is it something else. Looks like the settings.tml file is going to need some documentation.

I used “fullscreen” and it seems to work although afterwards NwN EE changes it to “exclusive” so you might want to try that instead.

I would say that, that particular file will need some serious documentation because there are some interesting looking settings and at a guess plenty of opportunities to seriously screw things up :upside_down_face: .

The file format is somewhat self-documenting. If you scroll down, you can see the full schema of all available configuration keys. They don’t have descriptions beyond their name though.

You can also press Ctrl+Shift+f12 to bring up the Debug UI and click Config to browse and configure them interactively.

Thanks for that @niv - very useful. I still think some documentation would be very helpful.

Any idea when the Alias section of the INI file will be moved to Settings.tml?

No idea yet. There’s a bunch of stuff left over in inis we didn’t get around to cleaning up yet. Eventually it will be all moved over. Hopefully before stable, but no promises.

New Dev build patch 8190 now available. It’s around 170 meg and was very slow for me to download at an average dl speed of roughly 500k a second. Patch notes on steam here.

New Dev build patch 8191 now available. It’s around 116 meg. Patch notes on steam here. Patch notes seem shorter. I wonder if that means that we are nearly at this going over to the retail branch soon.

From the patch notes -

New main menu background art. (Also configurable in settings.tml)

I tried to grab a screenshot but unfortunately it won’t work. Anyone remember that image from the live streams, of what the main menu was going to look like (the one featuring kobolds)? Well guess what, we finally got it.

Hope so and I hope it doesn’t crash as much ! I wake up nights with an image of the "Access violation " error. Looking forward to seeing it. Why wouldn’t a screen grab work?

Mind you, the bigger worry is preventing my Mac from getting fed up with me constantly putting off an update to Catalina ( and 64bit) and going ahead and doing it sneakily while I’m sleeping then claiming it wasn’t him/her ! If I suddenly disappear that’s what’s happened.

You can take a screen shot, but have to stay on the screen a little longer then usual and it will be in your screen shot folder.
I love that they moved my splash screen override into the main game. If you want to put in a custom splash screen just name your image gui_pre_bknd3 and put it into your override. Sample below with same modified buttons

Are there any size restrictions with it? By that I mean the dimensions of the image.

TR

No, the image is stretched or shrunk down to fit. I suggest the higher the resolution the better to avoid stretching. It supports .tga (I think I heard someone saying DDS work also)

Ignorant question - after the patch, the toolset About info still says something line “Game Version 1.79 Toolset vfs78” - is that by design?

Can’t find any Beamdog thread to respond to yet!

Another patch for dev build. Takes it to 8193.2 and is about 93.5 meg in size. Patch notes on steam.

Apparently there is a new patch for the dev version that takes it to 8193.6. I say apparently because ATM it appears as though it is only for the steam version. It is NOT showing in the BD client. Patch notes here.

I’m hearing “tomorrow / soon” for the Beamdog client. Apparently it is also OK to upgrade Steam then move the content to the BD folders, but personally I’m waiting for the BD client as I need to keep Steam as vanilla retail.
