Hi. Im new to all of this so sorry if this is posted in the wrong place.
I am really keen on learning how to use the toolset. I’ve completed the Bioware tutorial which was really useful but now Im trying a simple module of my own.
Anyway, I’ve chosen the frozen wastes as my area tileset, raised some of the terrain, created a new mine area and am trying to place one of the tiles doors onto a relatively flat part of the raised icewall. The spinning door appears but there seems to be no way to attach it to the wall so it stops spinning and stays in place. is there a knack to this or am I just being stupid ?
Sorry, ignore this. I’ve just realised that I think I should have designated tiles as entrance and exit for area transition and just used “cave” as you really wouldn’t want a classy door in the middle of an iceflow.
Just while I’m apologising for wasting time, is it just me or is it hard to see which way the cave entrance is facing before you place it?
Thanks Tarot. I’ve just edited my response to my own post indicating that I’ve figured out what I was doing wrong. Thanks for bothering. I’ll follow up these links.
As you figured out, you need a doorway tile before you can place a door.
Once you’ve done that, though, you can move the door anywhere (right-click in the area contents list, Adjust Location). You can then delete the doorway tile.
Thanks. That’s been helpful. It’s always great when knowledgeable folks take the time to help someone just learning. Just finished my first play outwith the tutorial and I have to say it looks great.
I have to say I can’t understand why the Toolkit hasn’t taken the gaming world by storm when you consider Project Spark was a failure and Dreams seems to be forever on the point of arriving.
I’m also amazed at how well it is running using Wine on my Mac. Im guessing that’ll cause trouble with downloading stuff such as the CEP and having had to use Steam to get it at all but those are for another post.
Happy days !
