ok, this WAS going to be a post for help.
but, in re-verifiying settings, i noticed that the Wine Configuration/Drives tab had not saved the correct path.
i fixed, relaunched, and so far, NWN is working!!
so i post here details of my config to help anyone else who may be using CrossOver on Linux.
transitioning from win7(64) to Kubuntu/Crossover.
I was able to wrestle NWN-EE on win7 by editing the nwn.ini file, and strangely having an orphaned directory under C-Users-USERNAME-Documents-Neverwinter Nights with also copies of nwn.ini pointing back to partitioned G:\ Games\Never-EE\ drive.
so i copied the entire Never-EE to a portable HDD, re-named the CrossOver bottle to NWN-EE, and pasted the Never-EE into /home/%USERNAME%/.cxoffice/NWN-EE/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/
[i am using a win7 64bit Bottle previously duplicated from IrfanView image editing program]
so I have mapped CO/wine config drive tab for its G:\ drive to point to
/home/%USERNAME%/.cxoffice/NWN-EE/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Never-EE/
(need to copy full path from Dolphin and paste into Path: field since CO/win does not see **.**directories)
there is a nwn.ini in the now /home/%USERNAME%/Documents/Neverwinter Nights/ folder.
also re-editted all of the the nwn.ini files with their [alias] to read:
HD0=G:
MODULES=G:\modules
SAVES=G:\saves
OVERRIDE=G:\override
HAK=G:\hak
SCREENSHOTS=G:\screenshots
CURRENTGAME=G:\currentgame
LOGS=G:\logs
TEMP=G:\temp
TEMPCLIENT=G:\tempclient
LOCALVAULT=G:\localvault
DMVAULT=G:\dmvault
SERVERVAULT=G:\servervault
DATABASE=G:\database
PORTRAITS=G:\portraits
AMBIENT=G:\ambient
MOVIES=G:\movies
MUSIC=G:\music
TLK=G:\tlk
I am now able to continue where i left off on a win7(64) system now on Kubuntu/Crossover using same save!
think this is all the details needed to run NWN on Crossover.
hope this helps.
