NWN2 game crash problem

When things are getting “heavy” inside NWN2, the game can crash.

I found the souce of the problem and one solution.

It’s tied to the Regeddit Key for NWN2, so it’s a NWN2 installation problem.

By installing “propelly NWN2” on the “default location”, and patching the game it solves all the problems. (original version the one almost impossible to find if you don’t have it.)

I also have the GOG version. And the problem is present with it, but I haven’t made much research on it on how to avoid it.

(My testing setting is a default NWN2 install fully patched, I would need to remove it all and set GOG as main NWN2 version and perhaps starts from a clean windows installation)

THe technical problem is that the "NWN2main.exe isn’t correctly refferenced into the windows registery (regedit). It is probably possible to do a manual setting and make a “batch” to correct the regedit key value, but is a field where I don’t have much knowledge.

One thing I’ve discovered is that GOG Galaxy running as a wrapper for NWN2 seems to occasionally cause problems at start up. For me, the symptom seems to be that NWN2 will not respond to mouse clicks.

By downloading and installing the back up installers available from GOG, I seem to have alleviated that particular problem. NWN2 can still become unresponsive, and will crash on some in-game movies, but it’s a lot better without GOG Galaxy, at least in my case.

Yep.

I, too, have found installing from the downloaded backup files is definitely the way to go.
