Awhile back I started working on a module, I didn’t get past creating a starting village and stopped. Well I’ve gotten back into DnD 5e and now I’m working on a campaign. So my question is, is there anyway in the Toolset that you take say the inn I created and convert it to a jpeg file?
Converting a 3D object to a 2D picture? A jpeg file? How and why would you want to do that?
I mean, all placeables and models for creatures contain flat images (dds files), I guess, so I guess you could convert one of the dds files to a jpeg in Gimp.
Well, there is two ways you can do this.
The easy way: you can run the game in high resolution; set up free camera mode (“~” to open console, type “DebugMode 1”, and then “freecam” - now you can fly with arrow keys and look around with you mouse); fly above you scene and choose a good top down view; hide UI (Ctrl+H); make a screenshot. Couple of minutes and you will get something like this:
Of course you may make a several of shots (for example several rooms) and stich them together in photoshop and so on.
The hard way is a big deal: you need to extract models from the game, set it up in the 3d modeling app and render.
