Scrolls (Cleric Domain Usage)

I just wanted to check if this is the case, or whether it’s something that has affected my campaign only …

After finding a scroll, “Entangle”, the 7th level cleric in the party with the “Plant” domain cannot cast this scroll (it is red in the inventory), even though the scroll description says it can also be used by “Plant 1”.

Is this a known issue or am I missing something here?

NB: The 7th level cleric does have “Entangle” in their spell lists.

Perfectly normal, unfortunately. Scroll usage is limited by the Use Limitation: Class item property, and there’s no item property for limiting it by domains, so that means either making it available to all clerics regardless of domain, or none. Far as description is concerned, I believe that’s identical to the spell description itself.

Ah, this was my suspicion, in that the “description” could be considered to need “correcting” on scrolls that are using the same description as the spells, which do allow the casting. (I may alter these, or consider leaving them just as references to their type that can cast the normal spell. I think that may well be reasonable.)

Thanks for the speedy response! :+1: :slightly_smiling_face:
