Shadow problems

I am making a tileset using Gmax. When I activate shadows on the Trimesh I get undesirable results. Below are images showing tiles whose only difference is having shadows activated on the trimesh.

As you can see, it is casting shadows in odd shapes where no shadows belong. Also note, the weird highlights on the walls near the torches. There is seems to be casting shadows on the walkmesh.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I can’t see the pictures. Frequent causes of lighting issues are open edges, indirect smoothing, or lack of smoothing, though. You can post the pictures directly into the thread here to upload them.
