[solved] Why does the model in the toolset look different?

This is Ramas Tiamat in the toolset. Sitting upright, wings down and tail curled.

Tiamat Toolset

If I look in Blender, it looks like this:
Tiamat Blender
(Heads down, wings straight up, tail straight).

The problem is, I want a statue and removed all animation from the model. The result looks exactly like shown in the blender picture.

How can I get a placeable model in the upright position as shown in the toolset?

You want to remove all animation except the frame that you want it to be at rest. It sounds like you removed every animation frame after the first, and that wasnt in the position you want it.

I guess you could scrub the animation timeline until the model is in the position you want, then copy the whole thing, get rid of any unneeded stuff, and save it to a new plc_ base with a new name?

I tried to do exactly this. But the only animation Blender shows me, is some combat animation (strike with claws) but not the “default” animation (just sitting).

I confess I’ve actually no idea how to work with blender

Exactly. Tabula rasa :-). But which one to keep?

There are 42 animations in the model:

newanim ca1slashl c_tiamat2
newanim ca1slashr c_tiamat2
newanim ca1stab c_tiamat2
... (ad infinitum)

How do I tell blender that I want to see one of these? There seems to be no way, to select a specific animation.

It’s been a long time since I worked on NWN1 animations, but I believe the one you’re looking for is “pause1”

Sounds good, I’ll have a look. THANKS.

For statues, I do it a little different.

  • import with animation
  • scroll to desired pose
  • merge all the parts (just body parts) into one object (easier to center this way)
  • delete everything except 3 things, the “aurora base”, the “creature object” and the “ignore_NGon01”
  • rename and export then open again. You may want to reposition accordingly sometimes it spins around but the pose should be the same

I finally got Blender to show me the correct position (Yes, its the pause animation):
grafik

Now, where is the button which causes to merge all the nodes?

I finally found out, how to export the model from Blender in the state shown in my previous post. Great thanks to @Tarot_Redhand for his little guide who gives me the decisive idea.

Case closed.
