Texturing problem question

Ive no doubt this has probably been asked a hundred times but i’ve been trying to texture a model for use on my server as a sorta Haunted House and when i apply the texture it turns out into this horrible monstrosity

I’m using gmax and messed around with the tiling, so it looks like this in the system

its clearly a great model, but i havent the foggiest understanding how to get the textures to “look right” in game, would someone might know what ive done wrong?

its just the texture scale
hopefully the originally texture is plain and not multiple images in one.
select object/modify
select unwrap UVW from the modifier list
select all the tiny squares and scale them (pull them in or out) until they look right
when they do, close the uwrap window and save

some bendy/twisty parts can be fixed by moving the right tiny square
also that roof texture needs to rotate 90 degrees, same procedure
also use the controls from the Unwrap window not the main one

The Final result

I have plans for some touching up but it fits the description of the house i wanted: a block three-four story row house constructed with stone.
