I have downloaded the very short Obsidian tutorial on party conversation and creation, but I must admit that I am quite in the dark on how to actually use this. Is there any tutorial (official Obsidian or no) that goes into depth on how to set up party creation, party conversation, and a rest system not unlike the one in SoZ in a user created campaign?
I remade it all from scratch to be close to the one of other games I like. Somme poeple have ported or extracted the SOZ way of doing things, using or starting from their work is also a way to go.
Yes, I have copied the SoZ campaign scripts over to my mod and commented out some of the more SoZ specific things (trade system, extra crafting etc.). But I would prefer to actually understand how this works…
Ah, well. We’ll see how/if things work once the first couple of areas are done.
While it’s not a tutorial, my Bedine module uses SoZ style parties.

If you want to know about the SoZ overland map itself and the trade system, I documented it and provided a demo.

You will have to develop a campaign, not a module. You may want to look at some of my work here: Tilting at Pixelated Windmills: Silverwand Software: Neverwinter Nights 2 (NWN2)
The Harvest of Chaos campaign uses the party creation and SoZ crafting. It does not use the SoZ party conversations though.
My blog post about converting modules to campaigns explains how you can create a campaign that uses the party creation from SoZ.
Yep, I know THAT much. My bad. Corrected in the OP now.
Actually, I came across and downloaded your tutorial campaign yesterday. Will look into it during the weekend, when I hopefully have a bit more time than I have workdays.
I started with a campaign, so I didn’t read your post on how to convert a module to a campaign. Perhaps I should do that as well.
Thanks.
My Silverwand Sample campaign was developed long before SoZ and so does not contain the SoZ features. Harvest of Chaos does though, as well as the OC Makeover and MotB Makeover. None of them use the party conversation style though. I never experimented with that feature.
Well, I followed the advice of Kamal in the end actually, and checked the party creation book of the SoZ lobby - and copied/stole scripts shamlessly from that. And it does work. Starting the game with one character, and then I can introduce/create the other 3 through a dialog with the first NPC in the game (which the main character appeears to be talking to when the module starts).
I still don’t UNDERSTAND this - not in the proper sense of the word; but obviously I’ve got the hang enough of it to get it to work, so…
