Two different installations of the EE possible?

Does anyone know if it’s safe to install the GOG version of the EE if I already have the Steam version installed? Unfortunately, I bought all the DLC for the GOG version, before I gave in and also bought the Steam version due to better update service. I mostly use the Steam version now, but there’s still one DLC I haven’t played yet. Do I have to uninstall the Steam version before I install the GOG version or can they co-exist for a while?

I use Beamdog and Steam. Although I use the Beamdog version most of the time, I do have both installed. I use NIT to manage Steam Workshop content so I can use Workshop items when the Beamdog version is running.

Presumably, this means that GOG and Steam should be fine.
