Weird CEP problem with NWN2 buildings

Hi guys,
Noticed a weird issue with NWN2 building placables when I was building an area for TOUD … anyone run into this?

Looks like a weird texture problem. This is CEP 2.7. To rule out it being hak conflicts, I exported the area into a completely clean module with only CEP, but it persists. There’s nothing in my overrides folder except some portraits.

Any thoughts?

I thought I was my ancient inherited PW, but I did update CEP and it affected my NWN2 building placeables with the weird textures in the windows, etc.

Yeah I remember reading somewheres on the forums about this happening too but I didn’t see a fix. It looks like a texture reference is bad in places or something?

As far as I can see, the problem only occurs with the model in the screenshot, namely, “Structure: Town Hall (NWN2)”. We’ll investigate.

I think that’s “Structure: House, Slum1 (NWN2)”.

Will record that as an issue, also the fact that some buildings are missing walkmesh. That’s been the case for many years so I won’t promise a prompt resolution.

Walkmeshes should be fixable, Ill get that if I find any.

Regarding the NWN2 Town Hall:

I went back as far as CEP 2.4, where the problem is the same.

The model nw2d_townhall uses one texture nw2_br_townhll01.dds which is identical in later CEP 2.x releases.

Clearly, it looks very odd. Given that the problem has been around for many years, I’ve logged it as a low priority improvement request.

Could it be just atlassed to another texture? Something went weird with the dds or something. I’ll take a look when I get the chance if someone doesn’t beat me to it, my cup runneth over with NWN things of late!

Oh yes, dds and especially tga converted from dds can be pest, or a can of green slimy worms, or something :smiley:

I can have a look into the things. Is it only the townhall and the other building or is there more (Give me the 2da line please)?

Btw. I already put a lot of work into Crosskeep castle and the walls. The large wall still has no merlons (is “merlons” correct?). I would add some If somebody wants to have it.

I can happily get the 2da line when I’m at home, don’t have NWN at the office for some reason :wink:

The crenel is the lower part and the merlon is the taller part, yeah!

I looked quickly but only found the townhall with that problem.

Found it. The reference to the window texture is wrong. I had much luck to find the texture accidently.

The position of the windows is wrong.

The upper door should have a different texture (which actually exists).

Which door to use for the main entrance? It’s of no standard size. It will be a problem anyway, since you can’t just walk up the stairs. The back door has some stairs too.

Shouldn’t there be a fence or something? The kids will fall down!

The model itself is fine, but the textures still seem messed up. Consider for that window, the texture to the side appears to be the same texture on the “front” of the tower. I might take a look, I suspect the uvwrap is messed.

Or the window-mesh got moved (for whatever reason).

I mean, lots of people use it and it’s all we had for a very long time…
