Is anyone else having issues with the latest Windows 11 24H2?
I can usually easily alt-tab between toolset and an active game when testing, but the latest Windows build is not playing along at all.
I find that alt-tab will cause the toolset to completely slow down to a crawl as if the whole computer has crashed. However, if I can manage to close the game (it is quite hard under the circumstances), the toolset unfreezes again.
Also, if you had this issue and managed to fix it, please let me know.
Also, if you have the problem, please report so I know I am not alone with it.
Thanks!
EDIT: I even tried opening the toolset and game under separate desktops, but the problem persists.

I have the issue, I thought it was beceause I took a newer GPU.
If the toolset and the Game engine are runing I cannot switch between the 2 anymore. I have to go back thz game menue first.
I have the issue only on one of my computer, that’s why I thought it was hardware related, and not windows related.
I would be very interested if someone has a solution.

Well, I tried the few fixes suggested on the web, including:-
- sfc /scannow
- edit registry
- update graphics
… and none of these suggestions worked.
So, I decided to “go back” to a previous version 23H2 and the toolset and game worked fine together again.
Is your second computer that is working use Windows 11 24H2?
Can anyone else report if they have the 24H2 working fine with the toolset and game running and able to alt-tab between the two and the toolset still work?
My computer acting up is on 24H2
My second computer is also on 24H2 but it’s a laptop. But on 24H2 I hva troubles with static cameras preview. But I haven’t the “incompatibility” between the toolset and the game running together.

So maybe we need to find out what our 24H2 computers have in common…
Mine is a Ryzen 5600X with an Nvidia GPU.
Your computer with the issue?

Both computer. aMD+ NVDIA. and 24H2. the one without troubles is a laptop, the other is a regular one with everything.
24H2 seems to cause a lot of problems and is difficult to roll back.
The computer with a slow down is
5950 X, but if it was working before the windows update…

I think I am starting to find that out now myself, as I can no longer double left-click open my XML or NSS files!
This is turning out to be a right pain and preventing me from getting on.
WINDOWS SECURITY ALSO BROKEN!
OK, I managed to fix these two “extra” issues, by removing another app and resetting the file associations.

Does the computer that fails the alt-tab have Asus Armoury Crate running on it?
I have noticed that my Windows 11 update complained about a driver related to this program and since rolling back, the Armoury Crate software is playing up.
Yes I going to disable it and try.

As you know, I had to “go back” to 23H2 to have my toolset/game alt-tab work again.
There would have been two things I would like to try (except I have already spent a day messing with this) and that is …
- Uninstal Armoury Crate before doing the update.
- Switch off Hardware Accelerated scheduling for the computer in 23H2 before the update. (I had it on prior the update.) (See image below for the settings I mean.)
The problem was that I could NOT switch off this GPU acceleration within the new 24H2 interface. It simply could not be selected, as if the setting had crashed itself. My thinking was that if I turned it off prior updating, then maybe that would allow the update to work as expected?
FYI, I used the Give Feedback button here to report the issue anyway.
USE THESE SETTINGS BEFORE UPDATING (AS A TEST)
Stoped armory and other Asus device, it changed nothing.
It’s still working fine if NWN2 is in windowed mode. it’s the alt-tab from full screen, which collide with the toolset. If you are in the “menue” and not “in game”, there is no problems even in fullscreen.
@Shallina
I think the Armoury issue needs the program uninstalled prior the update and then reinstalling after wards.
As for the “full screen” option, I think that is why there is a potential for the default graphics settings potentially having a part to play in the issue. I mean, I could NOT access these settings in the new 24H2 to switch anything to test this point.
Can you access the Graphics Settings in 24H2?
If you can, then maybe you can change some settings that may help you, but I cannot open the GUI at the link to even try when I had 24H2 installed.
Copied from my laptop with 24H2 but no NWN2. I can turn the button on or off here, but cannot on the updated desktop version.
I acceded the default graphic setting you shown, played a little with them, it changed nothing.
In windowed it works, fine, when in fullscreens it doesn t if the toolset is launched, you can 't alt tab.
Most of my “modern game” all run in “windowed full screens”. I don’t have any “full screen” like NWN2 anymore.
@Shallina
This is for 23H2…
And this is the equivalent page for 24H2 …
In the second page (for 24H2) can you switch the button off? (I could not.)
As I could NOT switch this button off after my update, is why I am suspicious about this GUI panel setting affecting the full-screen optimisation causing the alt-tab to fail.
Does anyone else have 24H2 installed that can confirm if they have the same issues? Thanks.
Select games might stop responding on Windows 11, version 24H2 devices
Also the graphic parameters are seriosuly bugged on 24H2.
Microsoft has stopped deploying 24H2.
Do you have a link to info about this?
I am just in the process of trying to download it and trying again (with graphics reset and Armoury uninstalled). (Third time!)
A lot of poeple are complaining about various issues.

That looks like it was released in June, and I had thought the bugs were sorted now.
Anyway, it is in the process of installing a third time for me, but this time I have uninstalled Armoury Crate and switched off GPU optimisation before installation to see if that helps.
I’ll report back when done… It may be a while.
Sadly, even after using the Armoury own uninstaller, the update still had reason to complain as if it was still around. One good point, however, was that the GPU setting at least worked after turning it off prior the update. It just did not fix the alt-tab functionality. I thought a reboot after all this had finally resolved it (as it worked once), but after a second alt-tab it failed again in the same way.
So, I have gone back to 23H2 for a third time and likely to stay there now unless MS announce a fix.
I would still be interested to hear of other people’s setup regarding this matter. Thanks!
I’m attempting a reinstal.
The PCA service, which is supposed make old application still work, seems to be bugged.

Let me know how that goes.
My own third attempt still failed. (See post above.)
